Our first two weeks of school have been spent getting used to procedures, polishing skills, and jumping into our leadership roles.
Leadership is our motto!
The focus this year is on leadership skills. We have spent time with Fr.Jonathan going over the fine details of serving mass. We have served all the masses and one funeral in the first 2 weeks.
Mr. McClain has been in to read a favorite book and has instituted a program for the 5th and 6th graders as morning greeters. The students are assigned a lower classroom and greet the students as they arrive, step in to pray with them, and lead the pledge of allegiance.
Family groups will be formed in the next week, with future activities planned.
Students received their first spelling packets this week. The packets are due Monday morning and there will be a spelling test.
In reading we are working on short passages, marking them, and learning the skills we will need for our novels.
I am still looking for room parents. If no one can take on the whole job, I will just ask for help at each event as it approaches.
Information on the Dunes trip will be distributed on Monday. It will come home in the back pack mail.
We are off to a good start!
