Principal’s Welcome

It is with great excitement & enthusiasm that I enter my 4th year as Principal of Sacred Heart School in the 2022-2023 school year!

I am originally from Altoona, Iowa, an eastern suburb of Des Moines.  I was baptized and experienced First Holy Communion at St. Joseph’s Parish on the east side of Des Moines, eventually moving to Sts. John & Paul Parish in Altoona through Confirmation and my high school years.  I am now an active member of St. Paul of the Cross in Columbia City where I lector, am on the Parish Council, and assist with the religious education program. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and taught middle school English/Language Arts just outside of Denver, Colorado for five years before meeting my wife, Ingrid, who is originally from South Whitley, getting married at St. Paul of the Cross, and moving to the area.  After moving, I continued teaching middle school English/Language Arts for six years locally at Lakeview Middle School here in Warsaw before moving on to my administrative career as a middle school assistant principal at Whitko Middle School and as an elementary school principal at Pierceton Elementary School. My wife and I have three children - Moses is a fifth grader with a passion for football, basketball, waterskiing and reptiles of all shapes and sizes.  Mya is a fourth grader who loves all things art & dance. Matilda is a four-year old first-time Sacred Heart Scholar this year in the KPrep-4 program who loves telling funny jokes to her mom & dad as well as tagging along with her brother & sister on their backyard adventures! On my free time, I love spending time outdoors. Depending on the season, I do a lot of mountain biking, wakeboarding, golfing, hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and basketball.

I appreciate your prayers going forward that I lead our school in equipping our students with the academic knowledge & the knowledge of the faith that they need to not only be successful in their future academic endeavors but also as they go out into the world fulfilling the Great Commission.  Thanks!
